I know they are not cheap, but you really do get what you pay for with a Kahr. I have a lot of handguns to chose from and for concealed carry I always carry the Kahr PM9. It is a subcompact 9mm, black finish on a stainless steel slide with night sights. I carry it in a flat back leather slide holster. It is so comfortable you forget you are wearing it. I have big hands and it is easy to manage the gun when firing. It comes with an extended mag when you purchase the gun. I carry the extended mag in a single clip-on mag pouch. I personally don't understand extended mags in concealed carry guns while carrying them. The flush mag holds 6 rounds and the extended 7 rounds, they are single stack mags. It kind of defeats the purpose of concealing a small gun. But to each his own. Absolutely fire your concealed carry gun if at all possible before purchasing. The Kahrs are pricey at $650-$700 for the subcompacts with night sights.
If interested I will post pictures of gun and holster/mag pouch. |

Hmmmm?
I can see a Policeman with a BUG (Back Up Gun), but for the average CCW holder? I am not sold on the idea

I guess some folks live more dangerous lives than you....Just kidding. I personally have yet to see the need to carry two guns except when I was recently over in the Mid. East when sometimes I had 3. That said, there are times when I don't want a 2lb gun on my person. That's when my "Back up to normal carry Gun" really shines. You know, like when you're wearing that Speedo at the beach...LOL or maybe in some of those gun free zones. At 12.7 ounces ( KT PF-9) there's really no reason not to have it on you even if you are in shorts and a T- shirt. Note: In no way would I recommend it as a replacement for the XD but sometimes another option is nice. BTW, you can never have too many guns unless you ask my wife.

Slight change in plans as of 1 hour ago. Finally got out to shoot the xd40sc this afternoon, and while I was there I was talking to a guy trying to sell his Bersa .380 duotone double stack. Looks brand new and the kid wanted to trade it in on an xd9sc. I overheard the dealer offer him $150 for it while I was checking out a new Para LDA 9mm (beautiful gun, feels like it was made for me). So after the kid left the store, we got to talking, and I may buy it from him for a little more than $150.

Ruger SP101 or a Taurus 605. Ruger can be found in .357 or 9mm, 605 is a good size for a .357.
It's a good gun to fire through a pocket if necessary. Definitely do NOT get the KT, I've owned a few, I had cap guns as a kid that were built more solid

Me neither. Some shooting guy says "1 is none and 2 is 1" and now its law. Most shootout occur in 5 rounds or less.

At work I carry 2 to 3 guns. Off duty, it depends on where I am going and what I am doing, but I have to admit that I have carried 3 (hip, ankle and coat pocket) guns off duty once.
If you're gonna play the odds, you shouldn't need anything more than a snub nose 5-shot .38 and no reload. But I'd rather hedge my bets and carry as many guns and as much ammo as makes me feel comfortable.

Don't get me wrong. i don't exactly live in a dangerous area. The way I'm thinking, if I'm already going to be carrying my XD, why not a second? I do get into some areas of Detroit I'd rather not be, but not too often.
It would also be a backup in the sense of when I'm not able to carry the XD and would prefer to carry something a bit slimmer |
