Went to the range - found out some things!

Okay so I went to the range yesterday and I took the following with me.

1. XD 45 Compact - Always comes along
2. CZ 82 - First Trip Out
3. Charter Arms Bulldog .44 SPL - First Time Out
4. Browning Buckmark w/Ultradot Pan AV Holo Sight - First Time Out

Man I was looking forward to get out and go shooting. I shoot the XD first and it is good to go. However, I had Night sights put on it and it seems to be shooting left. I shot with the regular sights and was spot on before the change. I will take out again and see if they need adjusted.

Next was the CZ 82 and it was fun to shoot and accurate! It had more recoil than what I expected but was fine. The only complaint is that I did get a little bit of trigger bite from it. Is there anything that I could do to stop this?

I also took the Buckmark because I wanted to get it sighted in with the Ultradot. Took some time to get it sighted in at 25 yards. Man is thing fun to shoot! With an overtravel screw set on the trigger, the trigger pull was amazing! This will be a gun that gets shot a ton!

The last gun to be shot was a beast! It was the Charter Arms bulldog and man this thing is painful to shoot. This is my own fault since I put Eagle Secret Service Wood Grips on it. This grips make this thing disappear on me, however this bulldog bites! I only shot twenty shots or so and that was enough! It also shoots pretty high, almost a foot high at 7 yds or so. Good enough since this is a close range gun.

Lessons Learned:

So this range trip I found out that the Bulldog will only be shot when it to defend me. The buckmark is going to be shot almost every time I go to the range. The CZ 82 is a bargin but the trigger bite is annoying. My XD 45C shoot left with the new night sights. Overall it was fun even if it was in the 30's with flurries!

Self taught lessons are normally the very
best as one seems to remember them.

I would believe that you would be best
served with the original grips that came
on the 'Bulldog'.

Glad to hear of a fun day.

I'm with you on the .22! Anytime I go to the range, my Ruger 22/45 goes with me. It's just so damn fun to shoot!

What kind of night sights did you put on the XD?

I had trijicons put on it. The rubber grips that came on the bulldog are better but they are harder to conceal. This thing isn't a range toy anyway so it will only be shot to remember what it feels like!

I'm with you rubber grips on a carry gun dont make the grade. They will hang up clothes print and generally be a nuisance. My hide out is a kahr K40 and the original Hogue rubber grips were replaced almost instantly for a set of the fancy wood checkered grips. Not at all pleasant to shoot large amounts of rounds with but highly concealable and give a solid hold.

My wife used to have a Bulldog, I found some Hogue or Pachmyer grips for it that I thought were great. I always liked to refer to that as my "Son of Sam" pistol. Anyway.....I bought some gun show reloads for it, and you talk about a beast. She would never shoot it again after that. I kind of wish I still had it, traded it for a G17.

Enjoy your CZ-82 , I have a CZ-83 the same as yourr but in .380 and its a blast and yes as you said , it a bargain! I dp plan on getting an 82 in 9x18 Mak when i find one , how much did you pay for yours? Mine was $180 and kinda rough looking but its reliable as hell .

Stop letting your finger ride the trigger on the CZ, it won't bite then.....

Agree, the 82 is a great pistol. Taking mine out in the morning. Get your 9X18 ammo now rather than later as the price just keeps going up and up.
