I equate SHTF with bugging out. Your guns is moreso for holeing up. For STHF/bugging out I will bring my XD, G26, Savage .22 and Mossberg 505 20ga.

Well with reality the 50 is just for play (it weighs in at 24 lbs) in a real situation I would grab the shotty however in pictures it just looks so cool plus the bullets are as long as my 9mm SC.
But your right if I need to hole up im good.

I didn't notice his round count. I definitely wouldn't want to try to run and gun with 4100 rounds, the hardware to dispense the rounds, and any food, gear, etc. At least not without a pack-mule or ATV.

In a SHTF bug-in though, that'll take care of a good number of zombies.

+1.

I dont see a mag for that 50. How is it loaded?

For zombies I have my trusty AR and 2 shotties. I really need to get a Mossberg 590A1 though. 9 rounds of 00 buck is a good thing to have for whatever situation may arise.

The 50 is just a single shot. I'm to cheep to spend the extra grand on a mag fed one. Plus at 4$ a round single shot is just fine.

That particular Serbu is a single shot:

For sure on the 590, although I must admit depending on my mood I sway between the Moss. 590, and the Remmy 870.

Big 5 had the 590 on sale last week $329, almost jumped on it.

But the fiancé and I are planning on getting married soon, so my shotty money went in-part to the rings.... Or mine anyways hers will have to be financed, fortunately the tax rebate, tax refund, and my vacation check all ought to hit about the same time. So we won't have to finance for very long.

No big deal though they seem to run the 590 at that price about every 3-4 months.

Sorry for the side track Jabberwocky.

Must be 1 of those .50's with the long bolt that locks into place.

In a SHTF scenario my kit would probably be my house. It is basically a Castle as far as being secure but if I had to leave in a hurry..my backyard is 78 acres of woodland and plains, my neighbors property is 1000+ acres of thick woodland. I have a pretty decent backpack that can hold about 80 pounds comfortably. It's packed now with MREs, Batteries and a few things I would need. It would not take long at all to put ammo in the pack and a few other nicknacks. The biggest problem would be taking as much ammo as I'd like to have. Ammo gets heavy quick without really having all that many rounds. Especially if it's in steel mags.

Is the 590 and the 590A1 the same shotgun?
