Refinished
I mulled it over for a while. I was debating sending the slide somewhere for a re-finish. I thought about sending it to a friend to duracoat it. I then decided I why turn a 250 dollar gun into a 350++++ dollar gun with the cost people charge to re-coat slides these days (plus shipping). So, just decided to go buy some High-temp (1200-2000 degrees F) ceramic/silica spray on engine enamel. The brand was PJ1 I think.. they were all out of the 1200 degree dura-coat stuff... It turned out pretty good I think. This is my first attempt (hasty) at doing this. There are a few imperfections where I had a small issue with running on the very front underneath the hole for the guide-rod and a small blemish where a bug landed in the wet paint. Oh well. It looks a 100 times better than my severe-holster-worn P6 did. All for 8 bucks and a few minutes (between putting it in, and taking it out of the oven periodically)

chupacabrachus - Better picture please!
It's probably a good thing you didn't get the 1200 degree auto parts paint. Most of that stuff requires baking in order to cure properly. If you don't mind sticking it in your over then it isn't a problem. My girlfriend would be very suspicious if she saw me using the oven or the kitchen for that matter. |

I don't understand why people would want to buy a double-stack sized pistol and only get single-stack capacity.
SIG has always confused me. A P226 has the same .40 capacity as a P229, despite having a longer mag. They have the lowest magazine capacity in the industry... yet they keep selling their stuff at $700 a pop. Bizzare.

No, I DID get 1200 degree paint, and MUCHO baking was done. I need to get some daylight to take a better quality "after" pic. I don't know where my real camera is currently. ![]()

Ohh, my bad. I should have read more closely. It looks good. I'm impressed at how close the auto paint matches the OEM SIG color.

Probably because the thinner grip of the P225/P6 feels better than the thick 228 and 229.
Have you shot one? They're really nice shooters and pretty accurate. Besides, if you cannot stop things with 8 rounds of quality 9mm ammo...what is another 8 or 10 going to buy you? The P225 is just big enough to make it comfy to shoot without the snappiness of the smaller 9mms. Its size is just right, if you ask me. Yes, I cannot understand paying 500-700 bucks for a new commerical P225, but 300 or less for one of these P6s is really a bargain for a gun of that quality. Sure, its not for front line US police duty, but for concealed carry for us civvies...its not a bad choice at all. - brickboy240

Feed Ramp
What does your feed ramp look like?
I was somewhat surprised that mine is not polished at all but it works just fine. The only other semi I own is my XD and of course the ramp is nice and shinny. My P6 ramp is black and no, it's not dirty. Is this just the nature of the beast or is there something I should know? |

Plus 8 rds on one hip, and 8 rds in a mag on the other side of me, in a pocket is more balanced. p6 Size is pretty perfect for me, and i have biggish hands, (i can palm a basketball)if my hands were any bigger i would need to tweak the foot of the mag or that lip. As it is, my hand fits between trigger guard and lip on mag like it was made for my hand. I cant imagine getting a better gun for $260 and i would gladly pay $600 .... but i dont have to besides just showing a weapon or half ass firing a .25 or .32 as your fleeing, is enough to scare off a mugger. I would imagine unless you have a mob hit on you or someone REALLY wants to kill you RIGHT THERE, no one is gonna chase after you down an alley etc after you just fired off 2-3 .25 rounds at them, much less put three 9mm right into their torso. 8 round delima is kinda a none issue. Though i will grant that the promag 10 round mag is a neat idea, i would order one if i didnt hear such bad things about promag replacement mags. I wouldnt MIND 2 extra rounds, though they are not needed, they cant hurt if i was gonna go buy some new mags if sig or mercmar made 10 rounders i would buy a few. To put it blunty 8 rounds feeding perfectly all the time is a 100 times more important than a 10 round promag replacement mag, that might jam more often. An inferior gun with 12-14 rounds is also inferior. Last edited by billbrasky; 05-28-2008 at 03:55 PM. |

Wonder what people do that carry revolvers? Most civilian shootings in self defense, don't have 14 rounds being shot. I would think 8 rounds being fired is rare. Carry an extra mag and it should be fine. My very very very nice P6 is going to be for range duty only for now. I would like to get some of the nice grips and maybe refinish it.
