I'm going to try and pick one of these up in a few weeks, when Centerfire Systems has them in stock again.

Yes, it seems that the slide thickness on the P220 and P225 are very similar. When I put my P220 in the Speed Scabbard made for the P225, it fits and does not seem overly tight or loose. The muzzle DOES hang way out on the bottom, but if I wanted to, I could carry the P220 in the P225 Speed Scabbard.

Many of the P-series SIGs will swap out in holsters. A buddy of mine has an older non-rail P229 in 40 and it too fits in the P225's Speed Scabbard.

I have to admit, though, that I do not carry my P220 in the P225 Speed Scabbard, but instead have an old El Paso Saddlery "Tortilla" pancake holster that was made for a P220.

I got mine a few weeks ago. For the price it is a descent gun but it isn't a standard Sig like my others. It is an accurate gun though, kind of small for my big hands.

Thanks for the information Brickboy. I think I'll just look at holsters made for the 220 instead of the P-6 or 225 .

Well, I'm probably driving to J&G today to buy one. I've always dreamed of going there... seeing all of the goodies their ad's in shotgun news show. I imagine it as the best place in the world.

So anybody got some instructions on how to detail strip a sig? I found some exploded views of it, but I don't want to get myself into what I'll call an "HK fiasco" (you about need a freakin' degree in a mechanical engineering to get the firing group in one of those back together). Also, has anyone bothered to try pro-mags for these things? Promags suck, but I have never tried a single stack pro mag, it's always been double-stack. If not, anyone got mags in stock? I haven't found much.

I'm thinking of duracoating in a Sig 229 Equinox theme. Won't look exactly the same as a real equinox, especially w/out black wood grips... I'm also thinking maybe just find some grips like yours and do a two tone (ala 239 SAS).

Today's observations:

Well, it shoots like a Sig. That one low and right was the 1st shot (DA). I have no excuse for the other one outside of the target. Shot at 15 yards, this thing holds a pretty good group. Clamped into a rest it could probably shoot the same hole over and over.

The DA trigger is as heavy as my Taurus Revolver in DA, but far less smooth. It's not gritty, but it creeps. If I find instructions on how to detail strip a sig, I may see what I can do to smooth that out a little. I'd still say it's right around 12# DA and probably about 5# SA. All in all, a nice trigger. It's got a fairly long reset, but like I mentioned: it shoots like a SIG.

I always have an issue with hitting the slide catch w/ my thumb on sigs and this one is no different. In fact, since the grip is pretty small, I constantly hit it causing the slide to not lock to the rear on the last shot unless I'm thinking about keeping my thumb far far away from the catch. Speaking of the grip, it's small, but still fits my hand like it was made for it (as most SIGs do). My XD's grip is too small for my hands and my left hand is left awkwardly looking for a place to rest. That is not the case with this Sig.

It does not like JHP ammo, as expected. I shot some 147gr. WWB JHP and they would do a nose-dive on the feed ramp about 1 in 3 shots. This is a known problem and sig later fixed it w/ changing the feed ramp angle in the early 90's. Mine is from the 80's. This isn't a big deal since I don't plan on carrying it. If I did, I'd pick up some EFMJ ammo for it; It cannot be trusted w/ JHP.

In total I ran 250 Wolf bi-metal 115gr FMJ and 17 WWB 147gr. JHP through it with 0 malfunctions using the FMJ wolf, and several with the JHP. I think I'm going to put an entire case of Wolf through it before I clean it just to see how it handles grit and grime (which Wolf has plenty of and spews out onto your arms while shooting it).

All in all, I'd say it was a better buy than the Hi-Points that two fellas next lane over were shooting for the ~$250 price tag.

I put a 17# spring in mine, amazing difference in the DA.

What does EFMJ stand for?

Expanding full metal jacket. Think JHP but looks like a FMJ. It's not quite that simple...but close enough to give you an idea.
