Looking for a shotgun! Help!!

My dad is looking into buying a automatic shotgun very soon however we do not know what to buy the gun would be just to shoot clays and possible hunting one day. my father wants a quality gun. 28" barrel if it could hold 3 1/2 shells that would be a plus but not required. He has been looking at some expensive berretas xtrema 2 and some benellis. But i think there alittle to much.

He said bass pro shop had a remington for $629 onsale awhile back which sounds really good.

Price range is otd $800

Thanks

im partial to mossbergs but them or remington are great places to start. you get a great gun without the price tag of something more exotic.

If you can get him to step up to the 900 range, Beretta has some sweet shotguns that fit that criteria!

If not, Remington and Mossberg fit the bill!

+1 on the mossberg, that's all i've shot for years and had no problem, I shoot the 835 pump it is my turkey hunting gun and some waterfowl, have shot the 935 autoloaders and they are sweet, plus you can buy them at wal-mart for like 450 or so.

I used to own a Winchester 1400 that shot really nice but I hear the new Winchesters are REALLY nice guns to shoot. I currently own a Remington 11-87 and several of their pump guns and could not be happier.

I have a nearly Beretta 12 gauge autoloader (the A-303) and it has been fantastic for the 12 years I have owned it. Never fails and is a breeze to clean. I have shot turkeys, dove and waterfowl with this gun and it handles any load I throw in it. When we are in the filty muck of the rice paddys and the Browning Golds and 1100s are jamming, the old 303 Beretta keeps slugging along.

I'd highly reccommend the newer Beretta autoloaders. We own several Beretta shotguns and their shottys are top shelf.

Unless you're going to go all out for a Benelli Black Eagle, the Beretta is a good second choice. I would never own a Browning Gold or 11-87 Remmy.
