Looks good but I'll never figure out why anyone would put close combat sights on a shotgun...it's a shotgun.

Because the shotgun is the perfect Close Combat weapon! A lot of folks have misconceptions about shotguns. When I did (or should I say, could afford to do) Action Shotgun comps, I quickly learned that it is pretty easy to completely MISS with a shotgun at close range. The shot spread just doesn't open up that much at all, even out to 15 yards. Of course, if you are using chokes, your close range spread is even tighter. My old man recently got into Trap, Skeet, and Sporting Clays shooting, and I likewise soon found out it's a completely different world than combat type shooting with the mighty shotgun! Completely different rules, concerns, and requirements of equipment.

That's isn't to imply that you don't have experience with shotgunning, just that your experiences may run counter to mine. For me, I get along just fine with a bead. The simpler the shotgun, the quicker I perform with it. Something like the EOTech would work great, with its 65 MOA ring. I probably wouldn't purchase an EOTech to dedicate to a shotgun, but I'm sure it works well, and I wouldn't mind trying it!

Looks good but it doesn't look like you can cowitness that EOTech. Seems like a waste of a goot set of ghost rings to me. I'd personally pull the EOTech, use the ghost rings on the shotgun and use the EOTech as an excuse to buy an(other) AR-15!

I have two shotguns and I hunt every weekend during hunting season with them. I also shoot skeet and trap. There is no need for an Eotech on a shotgun. If someone can not hit a person/target at close range without a holographic sight, then that someone should buy a grenade.

Doesn't sound like you've shot combat shotgun courses. Hunting is a different ballgame than close quarters shooting. If you shoot fast-paced, timed close quarters shotgun, you'll see how easy it is to miss if you're hasty and not 100% focused. You CAN miss with a shotgun at these close ranges. The age-old perception of a shotgun's spread at home defense distances is just flat out wrong. I've seen plenty of hunters and skeet/trap shooters fail miserably at running combat shotgun courses. Let's say you don't miss completely, but you only land two or three pellets on target from your 00 Buck load. You'll still have a potential problem on your hands. In the end, it all comes down to training and experience, but when it comes to home defense, every advantage can be effectively put to good use.

Can you post a pic of the entire gun? I'd love to see it.

I was shopping for a Remington 870 18 or 20" on Sunday at Cabela's (out of stock!) and the guy put a Benelli Tactical shotgun (4+1) in my hands. It felt really nice. It was $399 though...way more than the $300 I was hoping to spend that day on an 870. Should I consider the Benelli? What model do you think it was?

Thanks!

It most likely was a Super Nova. I had one of those before I got my M4. It was a damn good weapon. Just did not need two tactical shotties. I have a Super Nova I hunt with and It is one of the best I have ever owned. I think all the M series shotguns from Benelli (M1, M2, M3,& M4) are over $1000. I gave $1500 for mine. I have one pic of it right after I got it. Here is a pic of it new and a pic of what I'm going to do to it.
