AK nearly finished

Well I got my SAR-1 stripped down
(originally $319 for a Romanian SAR1 w magazine)

1. Coated in Moly Resin black satin (for those of you who wanted to use BBQ paint instead )
2. Side scope mount with 3-9x scope
3. Picatinny mount on the left side as well for light/laser
4. SAW pistol grip (huge improvement)
5. Polished bolt
6. Spit & Polish furniture
7. Moly Resin 30rd Magazine.

8. Only thing left is to try and thread this barrel (i have to find out if it's legal and how hard it's gonna be), for a flash supressor i already have.

Just took some time and TLC, but for under $400, I'm very pleased.

For those of you who've posted negative comments regarding everyone's new AK purchases over the last few weeks, your thread crapping is not welcome here (this one is polished much better than any turd I've polished). Everyone else, enjoy the before and after pics.

Looks very nice. I didn't know there were special regulations for threading a barrel for a flash suppressor...I thought the regulations were for the attachments like silencer type suppressors...

Looks good, but I will add that a wooden SAW (FAL) grip would look great....wonder if Ironwood Designs makes one....

Yes, threading your barrel is perfectly legal, just make sure that you use a US made muzzle device to appease 922(r)

I agree, I just could not find a wooden one, only polymer. Most were OD Green or Tan, I consider myself lucky to have found a black one.

The muzzle suppressor is clearly marked USA Made, I've just never threaded anything before. A little worred about screwing up the only barrel now that it's been refinished. (of course I chopped off the grips off a few polymer guns, so I consider myself somewhat technically capable).

its not hard. just make sure you use a TAT (thread alignment tool) when you do it and lots of cutting oil. Nice and steady....done it quite a few times. Or you could cheat and make one like Linx310 from 'goosenet' does....

She looks beautiful now. I bet it felt good to do the work yourself.

Had a chance to put any rounds down her?? Now you made it so I want to do mine.
