airsoft??

im thinking about getting into airsoft for a little extra trigger time especially with the cost of ammo lately does anyone on here mess with the airsoft guns? im looking for a m4 style rifle and a pistol that would be electronic and have a rechargable battery. i know nothing about airsoft but i know ill get what i pay for i just dont want to get somthing i shouldnt . so whats something good to start out with? metal body or plastic? good name brand? good source for guns/gear?

a paintball gun would probably be better for trigger practice...they actually have 1-4 pound triggers and have a similar recoil to a .22..maybe a little less(airsoft has no recoil)

but a paintball gun will suck for target practice because the paint will splatter or make a .68 caliber hole.

airsoft would be better for traget practice.

You might also look at a few pellet guns. I've been doing this for the past week with thoughts of more practice time. I think you'll find better accuracy for a given dollar amount in a pellet gun.

Stay away from BB's they are not very accurate. Oops, that's what those airsoft things are. Plastic BB's

Not to mention that the .22 might be cheaper than the paintball and/or airsoft gun. But you can shoot the airsoft and/or pellet gun in your backyard.

If you have a AR why not buy the .22 cal conversion kit. They run about $150 and then you can practice with your actual gun for alot less.

Airsoft is a good way to get some training time and not break the budget, especially if you use the gas operated handguns/rifles.

If you are going to go that route, spend the extra $$ and get the handgun or rifle that resembles what you are going to actually use. I have a couple and they are decent to use for trigger control, sight picture, etc.

Understood,
Take a look around http://www.pyramydair.com/ they have a nice selection of items. But I still say if you want trigger time at home, a BB/pellet gun is the way to go. More accurate, simulated recoil, and even a moving slide. Airsoft is cool, but it is, by design, eye candy for those who dream of better things they are not yet old enough to possess.

If it's got to have batteries, checkout the Drozd BB Pistol. Best of luck, let us know what you decide.

I've always wanted one of the Drozd pistols just cause they look like way too much fun..

I'll back the .22 route. I have a SIG Mosquito specifically for training the fundamentals. The Cerner kits are a great alternative as well.
