Mossberg Maverick 88 shotty accessories

I just bought a Maverick 88 12 ga. shotgun from my brother-in-law, not much but I thought it might be a good project gun. I was wondering if I can add to the capacity of the tube? It only holds 3 shells and I would like to bump up the capcity if possible. Also, where is a good place to shop for accessories for this shotty?

Have you tried to take the plug out? I have a maverick 88 as well.. If you take the barrel off, tip it down and a wooden dowel should fall out, it might need some help.. With it removed, I think its 5+1...

As for accessories, all mossberg 500 accessories will work..

Are you sure about the capacity? The cylinder seems awful small to handle 5+1.

It may be smaller than mine.. I just know that when i bought mine, it was 2 in the tube and one in the chamber, but you can pull the plug and it holds 5 in the tube.. I think its 5, may be 4, may be 6.. I figured the maverics were all the same, but i may be wrong.

They come plugged for 2 in the tube because most states only allow you to hunt with a shotgun with maximum capacity of 3 shots..

The mossberg maveric is identical to the Mossberg 500 with one exception.. The safety on the 500 is on the top of the reciever, and is in the trigger group on the maverick.. Interestingly enough, the main complaint of the 500 is the safety breaking, so IMO the maverick is a better design..

Dont forget to put that dowel back in if you take it hunting...

Cool

The Mossberg/Maverick 88 is 5+1, and is also the same as the Mossberg 500.

My Maverick sports a light, high-viz fiber optic front sight, 18" Mossberg barrel and 4-round side saddle. I don't do slings on pump guns - they get in the way for me.

I have shot one of these in LE/Corrections competition. It's a very solid platform for a reasonable price.
