Ordering Time - C&R Rifles
Okay, I got the blessing from the other half on buying C&R rifles. Here is the sticker, I can only get two due to limited safe space. So here are the combos that I am looking at:
1. Schmidt Rubin K31 and Mosin M44 2. Schmidt Rubin K31 and Yugo SKS 3. Schmidt Rubin K31 and Russian Captured Mauser K98 I need your help and reasons for one combo over the other. I am thinking that combo three is the way to go. I am looking for historical value and collectors value as well as a family heirloom to hand down to my soon to come son (2.5 months). I am thinking that I can get a Mosin for my birthday here soon. The SKS sounds fun to shoot but it doesn't have as much historical value as the other two. Help is appreciated! |

Get the Russkie 98k and K-31. Those are the best quality shooters of the bunch.

You'll love them...especially the K-31. Ammo for the Swiss rifle is harder to find, but there is always Wolf classic and some surplus GP11 around.
8mm Mauser ammo is not hard to find at all. AIM had some Yugoslavian surplus in a few weeks ago and it was reasonably priced. I already have two cases in my closet (I have three 8mms to feed!) so I did not order any more. - Brickboy240

I will check Aimsurplus, I bought some 7.5 Swiss with the rifle. I plan on buying even more later on.

Whenever I get my C&R FFL (I eagerly check the mailbox everyday), I think my first buy will be an M44.

Well I went to Aimsurplus and bought some of the Yugo Mauser Ammo, more 7.5 Swiss, and 7.62 X 54R for the 91/30 I ordered! I wanted the Mosin and couldn't resist for $80. I am getting a small heavy guage steel safe until I get a bigger/nicer safe for the future. I am using my Gander Mountain gift card I got from my Mom.
This can get addicting! |
