Anyone use or have a Kel-Tec PF-9?

Thinking of getting one. Any good or bad comments on it would be appreciated.

I've been carrying one for several months and I like it a lot. Kel-Tecs are hard to beat when it comes to cost effective CCW. I've had no malfunctions, but apparently some of the early production runs had some initial problems. Some Kel-Tecs require a bit of polishing to make them reliable, but Kel-Tec has a very good customer service department.

Kel-Tec's customer service is top notch. I had a problem with the slide in my P3AT and they sent me a whole new slide free of charge.

I had one. Ejector broke within first couple boxes of ammo on first trip to the range. Kel-Tec did send me a new ejector post haste and it was very easy to repair. I decided it wasn't for me for CCW so I sold it.

I wish I still had it to play with at the range. I wouldn't carry one.

While not the PF9, I have carried the P-32 for about 3 years now, and it has been completely reliable. Wearing even the lightest clothing, it disappears in your pocket.

I bought one used. It had the ejector pin walk problem. The magazine catch/release thing is plastic and when you slam the magazine in, it shaves the catch. Eventually, the magazine will pop out with every shot. To avoid this, always press the magazine release when you insert the magazine. Keltec has my PF-9 right now to fix these two issues.

I agree the pistol is really light and feels half the thickness of my XDs. But that also means it's harsh to shoot. I can't seem to get a good two-handed grip on it. It still wants to jump out of my hands. I seem to shoot it better one-handed. Maybe because one forearm lets the gun recoil more than using two forearms. The PF-9 will not take the place of my XD40sc for daily carry, even in the Texas summers. I only bought it because I never had a pocket pistol and I was curious.

Hey, sorry you had those problems. I found a website for keltecs that someone is making a metal mag catch, that will eliminate the mag issue.

ive been looking at the pf-9. i was going to get one since they are so easy to conceal.

for those of you that have them, would you buy one again now that you have had the experience?

No big deal. I should end up with a practically new pistol anyway.

Keltec is supposed to be tapering off the leading edge of the magazine so it doesn't shave off the magazine catch each time you insert it.

I bought one because I was curious about pocket pistols. I don't trust them enough to be my carry pistol. My XD40sc is not heavy, easy to conceal, carries more than the PF-9, etc.

Would I buy one again? Probably not. I like shooting my pistols (including my carry pistol) and the Keltec community say these pistols are good for something like 5000-6000 rounds. They are cheap and built cheap compared to XDs. For the cost of two Keltecs I could get me another XD that will outlast two Keltecs and then some.

Some will argue that a carry pistol is something you buy, shoot 200 rounds through it, and pack it. Not me. I like to use my carry gun at the range so I know I am proficient with it and it still works.
