Charles Daly Tactical pump action - opinions?

Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a home defense pump-action shotgun. I don't think I will shoot it that often, other than to stay familiar with the gun. So long as it goes bang when I pull the trigger, and is reasonably accurate, I'll be happy.

I saw this sub $200 deal on a Charles Daly 12ga Tactical with an 18.5 inch barrel. It seems like a good deal but I don't know enough to compare it to say a Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 which cost considerably more. What am I sacrificing if I go with the Daly? After all, since it's for home defense use (backed up with my XD40), I want it to work if and when its really needed and I'm willing to pay extra for that reassurance if the Daly will not give me that.

I haven't yet found a review on the net so don't know if it's a new gun or just not that popular.

Opinions anyone?

Thanks

Phil

In my experience, a pump gun is a pump gun is a pump gun. For 200$, buy one, and shoot the hell out of it. Once you're convinced it'll be reliable you're good to go. Something breaks, fix it and shoot some more! Not being able to see both sides, from this side it looks identical to the Winchester I have in the cabinet minus the wood furniture. I can't see any downside really except that barrels and parts may be hard to come by.

The only bad things people say about the Daly pump is that it's not made in America, and you can't put an extended magazine tube on it. Comes with a lifetime warranty, but some people have had great experiences with CD support, and others have had bad.

Charles Daly is more or less an importer of firearms, similar to what Springfield does with the XD's.

Other than that, people say they work well.

$269 delivered! And it's an 870
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/95059

Shipping on the Daly will cost you $18 so it's $50 differance for one of the most reliable guns ever ( the 870 ) with more accessories than you can shake a stick at. I dont like the folding stock much but to each his own.
