How to change guide rod in Glock 17
Just picked up a new Glock 17, yes still have my XD; always. It came with a ss guide rod, but I'm not sure how to change it. Unlike my Sigs that the spring just slides off, the Glock seems to be "attatched" somehow, but I don't see a washer or clip in the end.
Just thought someone here could help out; I'm sure it's simple, but just didn't see it. If someone has some tips, I'd appreciate it, thanks. |

Make sure you are retaining the spring somehow. Slide a long punch thru the hole in the center of the guide rod and push that retainer out the other side, make sure to catch the retainer or you might spend some time trying to find it as it will fly a long ways. Change the spring using an ISMI flat wire spring http://www.ismi-gunsprings.com/

Thanks, I appreciate it. I didn't look at the stock set up very close; just got it yesterday. I didn't order the guide rod, it came with the pistol. I am just used to sliding the spring off like in my Sigs, so just didn't click with me. Thanks for the info.
