5.45..the future of the AK?
since the AK was loved so well for its cheap ammo and now the 7.62 is almost as costly as .223. ive noticed more people talking about the 74..and since it is the ammo and rifle that the russian army uses...could the 47 fall back in popularity??????????
im sure it will never be gone completly but i think we will see a few more 74's on the gunstore wall in the future.. |

Maybe. But from what I've been hearing there is talk about the Russians going back x39. Just what I've heard no real proof of that.
We are just now starting to get 5.45 ammo here in the states but the prices are good. If we could get more stocks of 5.45 into the states and get the prices lower I could see the 74 pattern rifles picking up in popularity.

Russia has 7.62 in service along with the 5.45, they resupply both and both are standard issue weapons...just like the 9x39 APS. As far as 'cheap ammo', 7.62 and 5.45 are the same price....5.45 has been here for a while. I bought my first box 12 years ago, Dynamit Nobel from Germany....$2.99 for 30 rounds....the price now is $4-$7 everywhere for Wolf, Dynamit Nobel, Russian 'Golden Tiger' and '7N' surplus....I want Barnual (Silver Bear, RAM, Monarch, Barnual))to make more shipments, best ammo out there, besides the surplus......
