My first HK

Saw this little guy at the gun show, can't resist. It followed me home.

The gun is extremely clean inside out, no holster wear on the slide whatsoever. That's why I take the "it's a German police surplus" talk from the dealer with a big grain of salt; I would expect the German police use their guns harder than this. Any HK connoisseur can give me some real story about P7? It has the "Oberndorf/N Made in Germany" marking on the slide.

Now I need to get 9mm ammo, I have none!

That's one of the P7-PSP German trade-ins from Germany. I believe they switched to the new P30 (which has been out over there for months). The PSPs were imported under three grades, A, B, and C. It looks like you have an A grade one.

The "Trussville, AL" markings on the frame indicate that it's from the new batch that came in.

When people ask what the best shooting 9mm of all time is, there are an overwhelming number of people who say the P7. You got a good piece there, I'm still waiting to try one out for myself.

The PSP is known to heat up fairly quickly. The newer P7M8s, P7M13s, etc were better at dissipating heat at a longer range session. The PSP also has the European style heel mag release instead of the later versions of P7s that used the traditional HK lever at the rear of the trigger guard.

Do you mind me asking how much you ended up paying for it? I almost purchased a C grade for $595 when these trade-ins were first coming into the country.

I know, the slide is so disproportional to the grip that it looks funny. But the gun feels balance to hold, the grip is right size for my hand. I'll post some side by side comparison pictures later.

Folks susceptible to impulsive buying should avoid gun shows.

Thanks Maverick, so it's a German police trade in. Good enough for me given the condition of the gun.

The gun sets me back by $695; from the original asking price of $749. Honestly I only know the price for this gun usually hovers around 6-7 hundreds, really not certain whether I got a deal or got had with what I pay....
