AK47 help
I am interested in getting an AK for just plinking and found a store that has a few different types. I have decided to go with the 7.62x39 caliber but not sure what make as far as Hungarian, Yugoslovian, or Romanian. The Romanian I am looking at comes with 2 - 30 round mags and is on sale for 399$.....The guy at the shop said that the Yugo and Hungarian are better but they are more expensive. Is this a good price for what it is and would I be any further ahead to spend the extra 150$ for a Yugo.......Any feedback either way is appreciated!! Happy shooting!

If the $150 is something that will take you another 10 months to come up with, then I'd say just get the Romak (of course, I am an "instant gratification" guy!
But if the $150 is nothing more than another dinner night out for you, then save the dinner and get youself a Yugo. |

I've got nothing but good things to say about Yugo's
A while back I was thinking of selling mine, now Ive retracted and just decided to keep it. The are great reliable firearms. - Ryan

You could find WASRs (Romanian AKs) at gun shows for $325 or lower last year, but I haven't been to a gun show last October. Have they gon up that much in a year?

As far as I know, AK's don't have many problems. And also, The big difference between countries of origin is some used stamped metal some use machined. The furniture can also be better or worse quality.
I have a chinese AK. Not the prettiest and it has stamped parts, but it shoots well and never stops. I don't think you'll go wrong with any of them.

I've got a Romanian WASR-10. It's a solid, cheap rifle. It stays dirty, it's ugly and not finished well, and probably doesn't get oiled enough. It does exactly what I want it to do: fling lead downrange (with decent accuracy). I think it's all up to you. Is the extra quality worth it? For me, the Romanian is damn near perfect.
