Quick Answer...

I have shot several pocket autos. I am currently playing with a Steyr 1909 Vest Pocket Pistol. They are (mostly) fairly reliable, but I have big hands, so I have to be very careful how I grip them, or they bite my hand.

.25acp is very underpowered; in fact I read somewhere that the .22lr is ballistically superior. You would be better served with a snubbie .38.

As far as price goes, it will vary immensely depending on the collectability of the gun. I have seen Baby Brownings in excellent condition sell in the $800 range. The Steyr 1909 is worth about $300. There are cheap imitations out there, so buyer beware!

thanks.........

i was also wondering about the colt 1908 but think they are harder to find??

basically i found a pretty little stainless steel bauer with dark mahogany grips (not the tacky plastic ivory), for $100 OTD from a local gunshop. they said if i have any problems i can bring it back within 30 days.

but i don't know much about them, or the baby browning, or the colt.

i just like the way they look and it would either be a collector gun that stays in the drawer or possibly an extra for the g/f to carry in her purse......i know there are much better options than these, but i like the little thing....any advice?? good price??

According to the FBI wound ballistics chart, you will feel better if you get shot by a .25 auto.

well i have a walther medel 9 and its just a safe queen i wouldnt recomend getting any really small semi-autos slide bite sux and if i have to pull it out in a hurry i bet i would mess my hand up pretty good. i just dont feel comfortable carring it it just doesnt have that much stoping power but as far as it being a collectable i love it for that but i know i wouldnt pay the $800 its worth since its in perfect condition. my gandpa got it a long time ago and shot ten rounds through it he still had the box with the other 40 rounds left

There are much better options for self-defense these days. Get you GF a baby Glock or some such thing.

Like I said above, I like playing with pocket autos. But thy are just that, hobby guns. Don't rely on them for self-defense.
