Got a new Carry piece, may retire XD40SC!

Been looking for a carry 45. Ended up getting a Kimber Ultra Carry CDP II (I know Kimber takes some bashing here and there, but I've also read some good things). Hopefully I got a good one!

Here are some comparison shots to my XD40SC.

Sizes are very similar. CDP is a little taller (the angle of the pic is deceiving, the bottom of the grips are even!), maybe a smidgen longer if you factor the beavertail, and thinner (once I get some carry grips put on). Right now the stock wood grips are the same size as the XD, even though only single stack!

The Kimber is 7+1 rounds in 45, and the XD is 9+1 in 40. Fairly good trade-off I think to get a 45 carry.!

Nice buy. I had a dream last night about getting a Kimber Carry. I don't remember any details, but I woke up this morning and kept saying "Kimber Carry". Weird; I've never even owned a Kimber.

Was torn between this and an SA Micro. Both seem a little hard to get. Toyed with a few auctions, but prices didn't seem much better than retail, esp. after figuring shipping and transfer fees. Went to a gunshow and the list prices were pretty much MSRP. Asked for best deal and got it at $1,039, total $1,111 out the door. Not bad considering Bud's has it for $1,089 right now (plus figure $45 for transfer around here) and at least a one week wait for delivery.

Congrats. I was also drooling in a large way over the CDP line. I ended up being persuaded to go with the Sig C3 because it didn't have MIM parts and the trigger is one of the best I've ever felt.

Once again, congrats on the new shooter. It "should" be more accurate than the XD.

I didn't even realize Kimber had MIM in it until I bought! Hopefully they won't be a problem, and the Kimber 1911 forum says you can replace most with standard steel parts if you want.

There probably won't be any problemsjust your 1 in a lot failures.

Not to scare you with your new purchase but just the other day I was on the 1911 forum where a guy bought...I think it was a new Raptor...and only fired 75 rounds downrange. Then, he proceeded to dry fire 30 times and the top half of the hammer broke off...
