Kel Tec p-3AT safety question
I found a decent price on a used P-3AT (.380). I love size of this gun and convenience for carrying it. But one question sticks in my mind...
how good are the safety features on this gun? I don't want a pocket gun that I can't comfortably carry with one in the chamber. Has anyone looked into the safety of the gun? Any issues with failures & discharging? Thanks. |

Got to tell you mine is so safe it only fires part of the time this will be the third time that I have had to send it back to the manufacturer, I truly think that this gun is a piece of junk. I'll sell mine for $190.00 this is the latest one that they have sent me I don't even carry it because I have zero confidence with this weapon.

Great Gun
I carry mine as a back up gun on duty as a police officer. It has ran perfect. Groups well, NEVER JAMMED and does what I need it to be. A back up gun. I carry a GLOCK 23 on duty. For me, the glock 23 grouped better than the XD I had. Thus, I sold the Xd.
To each his own. Not knocking the XD. The guy who bought it is a better shot with it than I was............. |

Mine was pretty picky about hollow point ammunition, but the Winchester Rangers seem to run through it perfectly fine along with any kind of ball ammo. Basically, if the hollow point was too big, it would not feed properly with Cor-Bon ammunition being the worst of the bunch.
Other than that, I believe they are as safe as any other striker fired pistol, especially since they have such a long trigger pull. Invest in a good pocket holster and you will be good to go. Most of the times the Kel-Tec is carried as my only CCW. As it gets cooler and I can wear more clothing, it becomes a BUG for whatever else I am carrying. |

Mine runs great now that I've put about 100 rounds through it. Every gun can give a lemon. Mine has been perfect and groups great.
It does have a pretty heavy trigger pull, that's it safety feature. To fire it, you really have to make an effort at pulling the trigger. I think you'll like it if you get it.

Mine runs good.
I put about 200 rounds through it and got things working pretty smoothly. Like others said, it is a little picky on ammo, but the long trigger pull coupled with a good holster seems to be safe enough.

Funny thing is, mine has eaten FMJ, rangers, gold dot, american eagle and others. But I only shoot pretty much rangers and FMJ in it.

I love mine, eats anything and is my primary carry during the summer months. Groups well for a pocket gun. I have never had any safety issues with mine, just get a decent pocket holster and you're good to go.

It has an internal fire pin block which moves away when you pull the trigger.
SO it won't go bang unless you pull the trigger. I have one its great. Yes I get paranoid too but have gotten used to it.
