OWB holster for Ruger MKII?

So...

I'm looking for a holster for my ruger MKII... Not a concealed holster...just something I can wear out on my land/camping/hunting/hiking whatever...

And NO this gun is not for protection...Just fun and maybe to attack some squirrels to eat while in the field.

I am also looking for some mag pouches for it too... and suggestions...opinions... anything?

I had a nylon holster from Uncle Mikes for a different pistol that I traded for a 22/45. It was great. It also had an extra pouch on it for one extra mag. I was looking at a simliar one for the 22/45 that I will be picking up after I get it out of layaway.

They are:
inexpensive
sturdy
durable
functional

There are only 2 that I know of and both are for 5 1/2" guns.

Bianchi's laminated synthetic Model 7001 is basic but reliable. My choice would be Galco's Dual Action Outdoorsman. It is usuallly worn strong side but it does have a crossdraw capability.

Galco's sample pic for the DAO is misleading because it shows a large frame revolver but the holsters are otherwise similar in design and appearance.

OWB MK holster

What's the length of your MKII bbl? I have the 7" (actually the 6 and 7/8") MKIII hunter and picked up a leather holster from Cabelas. I think it's a circle K. I got it for the same reason you stated. There are two different models (1) a flap pouch and (2) snap strap. Both have a place for an extra mag. I got the snap trap model and I works well for what you're after.

Check out the cableas website and search "holster". rimfirecentral is also a good source for 22 info.

I picked up a holster for my Buckmark that would also probably fit a MkII at a gunshow for about $12. Its nylon w/ a mag pouch on the front. Hit a couple gunshows, you may find yourself a good deal.

Go on Sportsmans guide, they have a leather holster made by Hunter that carries a extra mag. Not fancy but it works great. I've been using mine for 5 years.

I bought one from "Old World Leather" at a local store for pretty cheap...works great. Only gripe is that the strap goes over the grip, but that's pretty standard for Mk1-3 holsters, and the strap is removable.
