Glock G36
Talking to a guy I hunt with a lot on the phone the other day and he just got a G36, that's the SC slimline .45, only slimline they make I believe, he had not shot it so couldn't tell me much on it.
I know this is an XD forum but this is the other gun discussion. I really don't want one, just wanted to know if anyone had shot one or handles one. Any size comparisons with other guns, is it about the size of a SC 45 XD? |

I shot Glock's smallest pistol in 40SW once a long time ago. I don't know what number they call that one.
I thought it was VERY hard to control and very snappy and loud. Since you cannot get your smallest finger around the grip, it was very "flippy" and I really wanted nothing to do wit the thing. I am sure the 45ACP version is just as bad. I know these Glocks are not ones that you're going to shoot all day at the range, but I felt that I could never be confident with one of those tiny things. This is something you will have to determine for yourself. The smallest I could ever go in their line would be the 19/23 series and still fell like I could control the things properly. But...thats just me. Glock makes good stuff, but the controlability of the tiny Glocks is questionble to some. - Brickboy240

I carry a G36 every day. Very slim. Nice and light. 26.99 ounces, loaded. I am on my second one. I had one two years ago, and sold it like a dummy, to fund another purchase. Then I missed it, so bought another. Very reliable.
It is a very snappy handgun. .45ACP in that light of a handgun does prove to be a bit of challenge for smaller hands or lighter, smaller framed shooters. I go about 235 pounds and have decent sized hands. I have no problem with it. Plus, I am used to a 340PD Airlite chambered in .357 Magnum. The Glock 36 is nothing in recoil compared to that. I like a good .45 in that small of a package. Remember, the G36 is really a slimline. It is Glock's slimmest gun, great for IWB carry. It is shorter than the G21 and G21 SF. However, it is not a "baby Glock". Nowhere close. My friend has the G33 in .357Sig, and it really bites, and is uncomfortably small for my hands. Don't confuse the 36 with the babys. Here is mine:

+++ on the above. The 36 is along the size of the 19 in a slimmer single stack .45acp grip.

Alright, so essentially it is the same exact gun as the g30, the mag is just a single stack rather than offset or whatever, making the grip better?
The grip was my main hate of the Glock, I could shoot it just as well as my XD, it was just uncomfortable. So this gun is around the size of a G19? just a little slimmer grip angle? Thanks for all the input. |

With a slimmer grip and in 45ACP, it might not be the handful that the small double stack 40SW surely was.
That model looks as if you might be able to get all three fingers on the grip...if so, that might be controllable in 45ACP. I guess that model was not out, when I looked at the tiny 40. - brickboy240

Brickboy,
I am really not a fan of a lot of the Glock grips, but the 36 is really, very nice. A good, reliable, ugly gun that just carries awesome, and you have to love the feeling of security of the .45ACP.
