A friend ordered 2 of the limited edition rifles. He hasn't received them as of yet but I'm definitely jealous. Also... he owns 2 AUG's, one of which has remained NIB and unfired. As far as I know... he still has both kidneys so I'm not sure what other organs he has forfeited to date.

I am jealous too.

The way the new gun price goes, many of them will become untouchable to me soon. For example, the price for FS2000 has been going up, not down. I am doubtful the price of this one will go down any time.

I could not find even a hint of its asking price on their website. Translation: its not even remotely affordable.

...am I right?

Small print in second box says "as of Sept. 24, 2007 the MSRP is $2,499"

As far as I'm concerned, yes.

Seems like the $2,499 price tag is for the limited edition; wonder what the production model will cost....

There is another AUG clone by another company:
http://www.tpdusa.com/index.php

A little less original than the STG556; it has no stock scope (iron sight) and uses AR mag instead of the original AUG mag. But I do like the idea of using AR mag, for obvious reason of mag availability.
No clue how much this one will cost though.

I agree the AUG clone is definitely more attractive than the FS2000.
