Which Single Action Revolver?

I have been looking at single action revolvers and was wondering what you guys thought. I have limited it down to these two:

Ruger Super Blackhawk:

.44 Magnum

Blued

Adjustable Sights

Ruger Vaquero:

.45LC

Stainless

Blade Sight

The stainless vaquero is about $30 more than the Super Blackhawk. Basically, the gun is to be used for range fun but I do like the fact that the .44 can be usd for hunting. I really like the vaquero though, more of what I think a "Cowboy Gun" should look like. Give me some opinions people! I do think the .45LC would be more fun at the range.

Adjustable sights are nice for a range gun and also if your going to use it for hunting you can sight it in for your hunting load.

The new Vaquero would be the easy choice for me. I don't hunt deer and I love cowboy guns. A stainless new vaquero will probably be my next purchase after I get my AR built.

I can only speak for the Super Blackhawk: I have one, and I love the thing...In all honesty though, the two previous posts bring up a question to ask yourself: what will the primary use be? That ought to help out a little in the decision but all in all I don't think you can go wrong with either (just save up and buy the other one at a later date).

Usage will dictate.

I think I am going with Vaquero because I really don't see me using a pistol for hunting deer for awhile. I also don't see me using a iron sighted handgun either. It will be used more for plinking and fun than hunting anyway.

The Vaquero is an execellent choice. However if your going to use it more for plinking, why not get a .357 Vaquero? Shooting .38's would be cheaper, but I know its not the .45.

I have wanted a SS Vaquero too, but I am not sure on the whole .357 or .45 thing.

My heart would say .45 for authenticity, but the wallet says .357.

Just something to keep in mind...

Good choice. I have an "Old" model vaquero, and love it. I havent yet, but I can load it with some HOT loads from Buffalo Bore. Just an fyi, I don't think that the "New" model Vaquero is rated for such loads.

What kind of grip are you getting? Standard, Bisley, Birds Head? I want very badly to convert my standard grip to a Birds Head.

It is a "new" model vaquero with the standard grips. I will have to check out the differences. I really like the Bisley and Birdshead models too! I didn't know you could convert to the birdshead.
