Little advice needed from the gun gurus/ rust fighters
First time dealing with a rust issue with a firearm. My own neglect I caused this I guess.
Anyways the gas valve on my M59/66 A1 yugo SKS is stuck in the position to fire gernades, won't go to the right, or slide back for disassembly. You can see the rust here, hard to get the camera to focus. ![]() And this is the direction I need the button to slide ![]() So the question is, what do you guys think would be best to use to break the rust up? Break free? All I have in the house right now is some gunzilla samples. I'm going to soak it in that over night. Thanks in advance for any ideas. |

Yeah, I would try soaking it, but shame on you! Thats the sign of a not shot often firearm! It needs attention too!

Kroil might help. Let it soak, tap it with a plastic hammer........gently.

Saturate it with PB Blaster, bang on it with a mallet. When it breaks free, smooth out any rough spots/pits and degrease the metal and 'burnish' the gas port with a high speed drill with a stiff fabric saturated with a little oil. Do the same to the gas plug- and get a spare.
