So I shot the M&P 9mm yesterday...

and really liked it. I love my XD and all, but I've never really liked the trigger on it. It's always seemed kind of spongy with its 6lb trigger pull, but the M&P trigger just broke sweet like glass. That thing was a joy to shoot, I may have to splurge and add to the collection. I may also spring for a trigger job on the XD as well.

I wasn't using paper targets while there I was on the metal target range and out of 100 rounds of 9mm, I gotta say I shot really accurate with the M&P. I like the way it feels, the way it shoots, and the sights on it as well. Good gun. Do I like it better than my XD? No, I just like it different. I look forward to making a purchase on it one day soon.

Thanks for the input. I have a .45 M&P coming home soon and will give a report as well.

Yeah, let us all know. Since S&W have worked out the kinks in their first generation of M&P's a year or two ago, the weapon has become quite reliable and is actually being used by certain law enforcement agencies and such. Those who purchased within the 1st generation serial numbers are still boasting a 97% reliability rate.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having an M&P, similar ergos as the xd, and the trigger does feel pretty nice...

I looked at one at Gander Mtn. the other day. It fit my hand well and I like the appearance. The backstraps are nice also. I couldn't figure out the takedown though, and the salesperson wasn't sure either

S&W AR's are made from Stag Arms parts (Mostly)...apparently most people and PD's are quite happy with them. I'm just waiting for the Chinese to Mfg. a version and sell it for 399.00 at walmart.

Likewise tried out someone's M&P 40 after the Jarrett class I attended a few weeks back. Actually felt really good and shot well. Looking into the 9mm for my wife since has the interchangeable back straps.

I was checking one of these M&P 9mm pistols this weekend when my g/f was buying her p-22. It does feel nice in my hand I like the ambidextrous slide and clip release.

There is a shooting range here in the town I live in and you can rent various pistols there for a fee. I guess it's like this at most ranges I don't know though. Anyway, I will have to check and see if I can rent one there and try it out.

There are a few on my list thought

Walther PPS 9mm
M&P 9mm
XD Sub-Compact 9mm
Glock 26 9mm
H&K P2000SK 9mm

As you can see I like the 9mm.
