.45acp Revolver?

Does anyone out there have any experience with a revolver in .45acp?

I love the cartridge, and S&W has a couple of classic old school designs available.

What can you tell me about recoil and ballistics (any loss of fps in a revolver)?

It just seems like a cool addition to any collection.

Thanks.

I've shot several in my quest to find one I like.I haven't found them quite as accurate as my 1911's or eaa's,but it could be I just don't shoot revolvers as well.

My favorite has been the the s&w jerry miculec version with some different grips.Don't know about about any velocity differences. The s/a triggers in all the revolvers I shot were nice.Recoil wise I didn't see a lot of differences. The recoil to me is much less than a 357.

Taurus makes some cool ones, chedck out their web site:
http://www.taurususa.com/newsreviews...june03_000.cfm

Definitions on the .45 cartridge. It shouldn't be much different than a semi auto as long as the weight is comparable:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.45_ACP

I like the idea of the .45 revolver. This keeps my ammunition purchases to a minimum (along with a damn fine and powerful cartridge) NOw i just need a Tompston Machine Gun

Another option is Cimmaron Arms. They make an SAA style with interchangeable cylinders to do .45 lc or ACP.

Hit up a local gunshow and you might find a modified .455 Webley, the break open wheel gun the brits used in WW2, that will accept .45 acp half moon clips. Pretty common and less than $100 in fair condition.

I've got a S&W Model 1918 and I love it. Accurate enough for combat (what it was designed for) and you never have to worry about jams.

Model 1917

I've got one also, barrel has been cut down to make it a 3" "belly gun"

My Taurus Tracker 455 is a blast to shoot. Despite a couple of bad experiences from users at other forums, I haven't have any problems with mine. I know it's not a S&W but it also didn't have the S&W price tag plus I like the look of the vented barrel.

Only drawback is trying to unload the thing (and others including the S&W) if you don't use the stoopid moon clips. Take a wood dowel or a small cleaning rod with you. Too bad not enough people shoot 45 Auto-Rim and leave their brass behind or that problem would quickly go away.

S&W PC 625. I can shoot 45 ACP & 45 GAP using moon clips, and 45 Auto Rim using speed loaders or hand loading. Recoil isn't bad at all.

S&W makes or has made a bunch of them. I normally shoot revolver division in USPSA with a model 25-2 with 6 1/2" barrel.

They are great fun and accurate. Recoil is minimal. There is not a great velocity loss. I have no problem or worries when I carry a .45 ACP revolver.

One of the .45 ACP S&W wheelguns I have is the current production model 22. It's a great shooter.

When you get bored with that old cut down 17, email me. We could do some trading!
