New Stoeger Cougar

It's a 9MM DA/SA model. I just got it a couple of hours ago. I will go to the range this afternoon and see how she performs and give an update.

I'm looking forward to your report and opinion. I've never handled one but aesthetically I think they are nice looking guns. A .45 would be nice though. The price is certainly right . . .

Boy, it was almost deja vu all over again. Almost like looking at my 92f.

Cougar Review

Sorry it took so long, been busy. The pistol handles very well, the grip is just enough not too big or too little. I have average sized hands so it fits fine for me. The recoil w/FMJ is very mild, and w/+P Golden Sabers is very manageable, actually quite pleasant little kick. The accuracy is not bad for a sub-4 inch barrel, I can put 5 in about 2 inches at about 15 yards. Only gripes are the sights, simple 3 white dot configuration, gonna look for some nice night sights. But fit and finish are excellent, not a rough edge on anything, no machine marks, the finish on the frame and slide are very nice w/very even finish. I can see this as my new CCW piece.

9MM Mags?

I also need some mags for this pistol, I have looked on the net but could only find .40 and .45 mags. I saw somewhere that Beretta 92 mags might work, w/ a little modification? Also need a nice leather open top or Kydex holster. By the way the mags say " Made in Italy" on them, they could be left over Beretta mags, you think?

Are these pistols rated for +P and +P+? Does it state that in the documentation anywhere?

+P, +P+ Rating ?

I have read the book, and it states not to use it as primary ammo. Only to use sparingly as plinking, and defensive ammo. Any other ?'s give me a shout.

I have a Stoeger Cougar in .40. I love it, very accurate for me. I found mags at Numrichs, but once again never found any in 9mm. and yes mine are Beretta mags. I would be interested in a 9mm cougar if I was not looking for a CZ next in 9mm.
