There are a few different calibers that I know of that are all .32

.32ACP
.32NAA - necked down .32ACP/AUTO to .312
.32SW - TEH SUX eventually turned into .32 long
.32long - long revolver cartridge
.32HR magnum - lengthened .32long cartridge

If it says 32 AUTO on it then I am 99% sure that it is refering to .32ACP which is a semi rimmed cartridge.

That is correct.

And, regarding .32 vs. .380, I would say .380 has power, which is really just a 9mm short. Also .380 and 9mm Kurtz is the same thing I believe.

+1

kurtz is german for "short"

Neither one offer earth shattering performance. But if you need a small caliber BUG then either one of these calibers would work.

The 32 Auto (32 ACP) is a low-pressure, stubby, "semi-rimmed" cartridge originally developed for pocket pistols. The ballistics aren't much better than the 22 Magnum, but it costs a lot more to shoot unless you handload. If you do get a derringer in that caliber, I recommend regular old ball ammo, since none of the hollowpoints are likely to expand at the extremely low velocities you'll get from the stubby barrels.
