Kel-Tec PF-9

Any comments on this pistol?

Have one with about 800 rounds through it. Ejector broke at around 300, called kel-tec and they sent me 2 new ejectors with the roll pins no charge. Ran perfect before and after. It does have a little snap to it being so light. I had a P3AT and sold it for this, glad I did. I carry it all the time.

On a note when the ejector broke it would still feed the whole mag. It would just not eject the last round.

I handled one at the SHOT Show and it seemed like it is a fairly well put together gun. I own a P32 and really like it. Kind of odd the spacing between the frame and the slide though...I noticed that when handling it and it seemed a bit curious to me.

I'm not sure that will be a gun that I'll put my money out on, but I don't have a need for something like that at the moment. I have a Kahr P9 that fits that type/size gun for me.

If you end up with one, let us know how you like it.

I had one for two hours and took it back and got a Kahr P9. I ran 150 rounds through it. It ran flawlessly, but it pinched for trigger finger in the trigger gaurd. Never had any other pistol do it. It was no fun to shoot, but performed good. IMO the tac rail is pretty stupid for for the style of pistol.

It's:

1: Kel-Tec - varying QA and kinda blah
2: It's a 9mm.. XD is hands down superior followed by many others including Glock, Kahr, S&W and many others..

There are better choices in the same basic price range.

Had one in my hands today. Very light and fairly small. Slipped into a pocket holster and put it in my jeans pocket. It fit but just barely. Bought a P3AT instead. Much smaller. Very pocketable.

If you simply want a 9mm. Get an XD. If you want a pocket gun, it is just a little too big... not much but enough to make life difficult. If you are wearing pants with large slash pockets it might be fine or if you are pocketing it in a vest. But jeans... no way. It will be visible on top and not concealed and it will be hard to get your hand in to draw the weapon.

I've got one and love it!
It completely disappears in a IWB holster. May be a little to big for a pocket gun with some pants, but I do use that method of carry sometimes. I've got ~200 rounds through it with no problems (except I limpwristed it once).

I dont know, something about super small autos that doesn't sit well with me. I have nightmares of them jamming. It would seem the smaller you make an auto loader, the more you invite trouble.

I think you have to fluff and buff em, find a round that works reliably over many practice rounds, and stick with it. When people send cheapo ammo and odd cartridges through, they do have a tendancy to get fussy. But many people have got their pocketguns working like a top... just takes care and attention.
