Wilson Combat "Super Grade" 1911 Pistols: Worth the pricetag??!?

Holy cow!

Wilson Combat Tactical Super Grade - $3885.00 MSRP
Wilson Combat Tactical Super Grade Compact - $3885.00 MSRP
Wilson Combat Classic Super Grade Compact - $3995.00 MSRP

Link: http://www.wilsoncombat.com/index_super.htm

I'll be direct:
First Question: Quite simply, are these 1911's worth the almost-4,000-dollar pricetag? I mean seriously, that's how much I put down on my $26,000 car! I could have purchased about 4 stock .223cal. M4 Carbine's OR 4-6 Underfolding stock AK-47's with milled receivers and poly/fiberglass furniture.... OR I could have one of either of those rifles and at least at least $3,000 worth of ammo for either! That's a lot of friggin' ammo!

Second Question: Will the Wilson Combat 1911's shoot better than Sig's? I have a LOT, and I mean A LOT of respect for Sig Arms. The Sig 226 X-Five in either 9mm or .40 Cal with a 2.2lb trigger pull is guaranteed to shoot less-than 1" groups @ 25 yards, and less-than 2" groups @ 50 yards with 14-19-round (9mm-.40cal) mags... and I used to think that the $2,600.00 MSRP pricetag was unreasonable........

Link: http://www.sigarms.com/Products/Show...8&productid=88

So the final question is: Is the $4,000 MSRP pricetag of the Wilson Combat 'Super Grade' 1911 pistols justified? I mean, if I actually had $4,000 to blow on a pistol, would the WC Super Grade be the right choice? Is it really that accurate? Is it really that reliable?

Thanks in advance!

I think theyre a little high priced, but it is a Wilson... And for the sigs... as far as theyre new 1911 GSR Revolution goes... and also Customer service... I'm not impressed... My dad bought a BRAND NEW GSR, and in less than 2,000 rounds the slide and breech was cracked and the Extractor ripped off... not to mention it would misfeed at least twice in every mag (novaks, Chip mccormicks, and Sig mags) after paying to have the pistol shipped in 3 times (around $180 bucks i think) they finally told us that the pistol couldn't be fixed, and sent another one... its ran fine so far, but for 1200 bucks it never should have fallen apart in the first place...

Get a Les Baer. Less $$ and an excellent pistol. I own one and do not regret it one bit. It was way less than $4k too...

Even a S&W 1911PD would be better value than a $4k Wilson IMHO...

Get a custom gun built and take the extra and snag another EBR and a ton of ammo for both. Christ that's way too much damn money for a 1911. Yeah Wilson makes a good gun, but so do many others and you seriously could have a custom 1911 built, tons of customization and love put into the build and have a unique gun for WELL under that absurd cost.

I've heard about the GSR issues and while I'll put my ugly stock P220 toe to toe with any fricken .45 at twice it's cost, I'm not sure I would touch the GSR.

I had a custom 2011 hand built for myself and it was over $1000.00 less than that. There is no way I would pay $4000.00 for a Wilson. Contact a reputable smith and have him build you a one of a kind gun for that much or buy a high end 1911 from STI.

I have a Wilson though it's a custom CQB and not a supergrade. Their customer service is top notch and the warranty is hard to beat. I know one individual that wasn't happy and they gave him a full refund on his custom pistol after he returned it of course. If you're military or LE they'll give you a nice discount as well

Bill Wilson won't let the XD shoot in SSP. How could you possibly own one of his guns?

It's called free market enterprise...it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. If you think it's too costly, then move on and buy something else. Wilson Combat will continue to sell all they make without you.

Hilton Yam (a Downey leo) has made a name for himself with handcrafted 1911 45ACP. He has a waiting list tho and IIRC, he is less than Wilson.

Yost is another well known and recognized gunsmith and I believe he is also less.

I just offer those to give you a couple of other names.
