Question about exchanging ownership of handgun

I have a buddy that's giving me a Sig 220. The problem is he is a resident of Florida and I live in Louisiana. My question is can we do a ftf transaction or do we have to do a ffl transfer. The place in Fl told him that a ffl in La could give us a paper to fill out. A place in La told me he has to ship it to me. Anyone have any experience or knowledge with my problem?

I'd wait until I saw him, and let him hand it to me. It depends on how bad your state's laws are though. But hey, I occasionally drive over the speed limit, and try not to get all my guns in the database.

Well down here in the dirty south when selling a firearm ftf we don't have to document anything. I usually do a bill of sale to cma.

Interstate transfers require an FFL.

It sucks but you still get a gun for around $50 with shipping and FFL fees

I'd still do it FTF, and not worry about it.
