.22-250 questions and suggestions

Been told to look into a Stevens .22-250, made by savage and great priced at under $300. Was wondering if anyone has shot or owns one of these and can lemme know what they thought of it. Or if anyone has any good suggestions on a reasonably priced .22-250 (under $450 preferably).

Thanks for any information given.

Under $450??? Don't know. Used maybe? I paid under $500 for my Remington 700 SPS in .22-250, but it was on sale. I also got a rebate from Rem. Savage comes close to that price with several models where I live. I can't say anything good or bad about Stevens, though. Haven't really heard anything bad about them.

Watch for sales at local gun stores if you can wait. That might be your best option for the best quality.

eta: Have you given any thought about an NEF Handi-Rifle. Awesome shooters for about $200. Maybe a little more, depending on type of stock and barrel. I have one in .223. Rifle and Scheels scope out the door was under $400. It is a great rifle too.

I've got a Stevens 223, and it's a great gun. Think I paid $265. I ended up putting aTimney trigger in it, so I should have just gotten the Accutrigger. Try this - http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/p...ducts_id/14604 and this www.savageshooters.com . If you want a varmint barrel, that will jump you up to about $460.
