Anybody have any thoughts on the different options available? Who prefers under or side folder? wood or plastic? I'm looking to get an AK soon and was wondering the pros/cons of each such as cheek weld, concealability, etc..

under-folder is the way to go. if you want to conceal, they make AK47 pistol now with no stock and handguard grip just like the HK subgun.

not a big fan of plastic furniture as they don't give off the instant "oh crap, he got an AK" to the intruders. AKs are excellent wall hangers.

Your best bet is to go 'feel' for yourself. Underfolders get uncomfortable to me after a while. If you get a fixed stock, you have more options later on if you want a folder....my fav is the left side folders, you can keep optics installed when it folds, and it ain't real wide......

Underfolder- you're stuck

Left side folder- skeleton or solid plastic

Fixed- wood, plastic, bakelite, wire side folder, goofy left side folder (KVAR), goofy underfolder (Copes sells them), ACE stock (2 styles), Galil (TAPCO style), M4 style, Dragunov style, RPK style, Tabuk style, all kinds of colours and things......you can even make them from plywood for a custom laminate look/style....

I have a buddy who has an AK to sell or trade that has the stock on the left. I shot it and it fits me pretty well. I havent tried the folder on the right, but was looking for something that was a good balance between comfort/stability and concealability. Thanks for the input so far.

If you won't fight when victory is certain, and if you won't fight when victory is not too costly, you may come to the moment when you have no choice but to fight with the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you fight with no hope of victory, because it is better to perish as warriors than to live as slaves.
