Nah, it's the wrong cartridge to be a cowboy gun.

They sure look fun though, I HAVE to get me one soon.

I know i think its either 3030 , 45 70 or 44mag that they usedbut its pretty close thoughi like the recoil not too strong not to weak either is just right..i have to try it with a 38 special ammo, its a little cheaper than 357

I hunted whitetails, here in Texas, for many years using an scoped 8" Colt Python. The 180gr Federal JHPs were lethal out to that range. I would be interested in seeing what that rifle would do with that load as well.

Traditionally chambered in .44-40. That's the "real" cowboy caliber.

Nice straight stock you got there. You should've gotten the big saddle loop version, if they offer it, and THEN you could've been a real cowboy................with an XD .

Is this a tool (hunting) or a toy (plinker)?

I have that same rifle in an earlier version...minus the checkering and crossbolt safety. I also have the same thing in 44 magnum.

Great rifles, aren't they? I love mine and shoot them often. I don't know why, but my 44 is more accurate than the 357, but either will give a pretty good 50yd group. Its amazing how fast you can shoot those rifles...isn't it? They're very handy rifles, too.

Careful there...buying lever actions! I started with Dad's 1957 Mod 94 Winchester and now have eightlever actions. Marlins, Winchesters and one Savage 99. Leverguns are big fun and addicting.

The original assault rifle

Looks great, one day I'll pick one up in .44 just for the hell of it. Way down on the list though.
