Suppress a Nagant revolver?

A guy on another forum had a thread about favorite movie "gun goofs", and mentioned somebody portraying a wheelgun actually being quieted by the installation of a suppressor. This got me thinking.....if you took a Nagant revolver and suppressed it, how quiet would it actually be? With the cylinder designed to move forward to make a tight joint against the barrel end (capturing gas and noise), I'm curious.

They're not even as loud as todays fire crackers, and the bullets (at least the Russian yellow box 'target' ammo) is pretty slow....should work pretty good on any 'sub sonic' bullet thrower. The "Bramit" device was a silencer made for the M95 Nagant...NKVD loved them

Actual pic of drawing, only one I've ever seen is in the museum in Langley, Va

Fascinating....thanks for the info.

I wonder if the barrel wall is thick enough to just turn some external threads onto the end for a conventional can and relocate the front site blade back a bit. This would be nothing but a range toy, so I'm not too concerned about the OAL of the piece.

Dan,
Contact this company. They do barrel threading and manufacture suppressors. I'm sure if you show them the barrel they can offer advice about options.

Thanks, AZXD. I'll keep that handy for when I get around to this "curiosity" project.
