I shot a fully automatic .22 along time ago. It was different with the magazine and cheap to feed.

Yea, those .22s are fun and cheap to
shoot.

The military gave a long and hard look
at a .22 cal in these machines in select
fire. Thinking was, that the ground pound-er
could pack a whole lot more ammo that
a bigger caliber. Makes sense when you
spray and shoot leaving the maimed to
drip dry.
