Forbidden items on ebay

Letter to ebay:

The Mentally Disturbed Moron that committed the Virginia Tech atrocity purchased nothing on ebay that he couldn't LEGALLY purchase at thousands of locations worldwide. To punish the Law Abiding Public who utilize and rely on your service is just adding to the mayhem/terror the Moron caused.
Ebay, historically, has been over the top in sales restrictions on firearms related items. For those unaware of the listing requirements, even a PICTURE OF A REAL FIREARM is not allowed, and cause for IMMEDIATE REMOVAL of an item. What purpose this serves is unclear to me, and again did nothing to deter the Moron.
So, in the spirit of these new Draconian Restrictions, here are a few additional items that should now comply with your new policy directive:

NECKTIES, BELTS and any other "STRINGY" things could be used to commit suicide or hang others. Cancel all of those auctions...
SILVERWARE made Rosie O'Donnel fat....Oh no, can't have that happen again....
Automobiles kill 10's of thousands of American Citizens every year...Sales of ANYTHING AUTO RELATED must be suspended immediately!!!!
Of course, this is just a beginning...

Those of us who already lawfully comply with thousands of Federal, State and Local laws and regulations should not be penalized for ILLEGAL OR IMMORAL actions taken by one moron.

Fellow Ebayer,
Mr. Wildroot

Being dumb never seems to make dumb people understand the dumb things they've done.

This letter will automatically be ignored by anyone who can make any changes at ebay as you took the time to do things like call people "fat" and "moron". You now, yourself, have made yourself look like a rambling idiot and thus, maybe even secure the reasoning behind the decision they made.

I got three responses that were pulled (w/o seeing them) and then this:

"Hello mrwildroot,

I was very careful not to use foul language or threats of any kind. Apparently the truth cuts deeply....
So that is the CORPORATE AND UN-AMERICAN MIND TRAMPLING ALL OUR RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS IN A NUTSHELL!!!

I am working up a response for this.

Rosie IS F-A-T!
The VT shooter deserved a magazine full of .45 JHPs, and a MUCH more descriptive term than "moron".
I was just trying to be polite....

You misunderstand my point. My point is no one is going to take you seriously with that response. regardless if your points are valid or not.

I will go ahead and echo this along with asking you to please never make such thoughts public again.

You give gun owners and responsible citizens a bad reputation by going on rants. It doesn't matter if I agree with you or not, you will go no where in modern society without some tactfulness.

A better example would have been to say:

Dear Ebay, Your stance on firearms is unjustified when you allow automobiles and knives to be sold through your site. I would like to ask you, on the behalf of all gun owners, to rethink your position on this and hopefully come to terms that everyone will be agreeable with.

Wow, I understand your frustration but that is a terrible letter. You need to take a course in business writing or something.

Honestly the letter comes across as, with all due respect, you being a nutjob, no offense. You need to calm down a bit and try again.

Canceled my e-bay account with a polite and professionally worded letter explaining why, also encouraged anyone who supports the second amendment to do the same.

E-bay will listen with their pocket book a LOT sooner than they'll listen with their ears.

Ebay doesn't give a rats ass if half the people canned their accounts. They'd still be making unholy amounts of money. Probably more per second than most people make in a life time.

"At least" Odd, you do realize you did more harm than good, right? Most people haven't done anything because they're smart enough to realize it's a privately owned business in a capitalist country. Don't like ebay? Don't say a word and move onto the next company.
