Thought I was done buying handguns
Today I was in my local gun shop and saw this 1981 stainless Super Single Six "Convertible" (1981 according to Ruger's site) with original box, even original little pouch that goes in the original little box that holds the (original, of course) extra cylinder. Gun looks like it's never been shot. Not a mark on it.
Anyway, had to have it. Came with big rubber grips....more comfortable but for the pictures I had to put the original wood grips back on. Trigger is very crisp. As expected from a SA only gun. I left my trigger gauge with my brother, so I'm not sure about the pull. I did the "poor man's trigger job" as explained by Jeff Quinn..(here...http://www.gunblast.com/Poorboy.htm )...so without the gauge I can only make a guess (compared to some of my other guns I KNOW the pull weights of).- Yeah, dangling participle...excuse my grammar. LOL I'd say right around 3 pounds. Shot it for about 5 minutes with both .22LR and .22WMR. Didn't seem quite as accurate as my Ruger MKII, but it sure is a lot prettier and FAR FAR more solidly made. And my first revolver in over 20 years. Until I got it home and looked up the ballistics of the .22 Magnum, I never realized how much punch it has....according to the CCI website, over 330 ft. pounds of energy at the muzzle. I realize that's most likely out of a rifle, but still....compared to the .22LR standard velocity at around 100, Stingers at 190, Mach II at 150, and HMR at 245.....seems impressive to me. Anyway, already gave it to my son......just so he understands I get to shoot it whenever I want, and that he has to keep the original box, etc. and that he has to give it to HIS son (or grandson) whenever that happens. (He's single, 22 and fresh out of the Navy, so I don't see him settling down in the immediate future....lots of lost time to make up for - no women on submarines.... ![]() ![]() ![]() Peace, D.

The first handgun I ever shot was a Ruger SA .22. I love those guns! That particular pistol looks very nice!
