Ok guys, my 870 needs some work

I have a Remington Express with an 18.5" that I keep loaded in a quick access safe. Check out the safe here

Anyway, a heard a noise last night that woke me up. I grabbed my 870 out of its holding and realized just how badly I need a weapon light as well as an extension tube. I couldnt see and could not carry more ammo.

I really hate to have to spend the money for the surefire forend setup, but it is the best. I have not been able to find anything half assed that I could use to get by that would meet my needs. Any one have any thoughts?

Now for the extension tube. It is possible to buy OEM Remington parts to turn my express into a defense model, however they go for a lot of money on eBay. I have see on companies offer various alternatives but have no clue as to what is crap and what is a great product.

Can anyone chime in? Feel free to post your setups.

For the light, there isn't any real reason to go with the dedicated forend. You could get a picatinny mount (most will mount to the barrel and mag tube) that presents a rail at 3 or 9 o'clock, mount a 1" light of your choice (I prefer a G2 with the shock isolated bezel and a pressure pad) and then you'll have light.

Choate makes a kick ass STEEL extension tube.

Trying to find pix showing how I set mine up....side saddle on my Moss500 that mounts a (high 105 lumin) Surefire G2 with Tacstar pressure switch. Pressure switch attached to Hogue grip. I think the entire thing new was probably $140 maybe.

I was going to offer for sale for $75 - I think I'm planning to spend the money to get the full forend thing.
