my first Mosin Nagant...
it al started about a month ago, when my brother in law let me shoot his Czech Vz24. It was amazing; a powerful solid rifle that felt, well to me anyway, like a rifle should feel. I swore on the spot that I would one day own one.
That lead me, in a roundabout way, into the Mosin Nagants. After doing some reading and checking with some friends who also had some of these weapons, I had read about them and decided that my first would be the m44, ,mainly because of that built in bayonet So, here it is: ![]() 1944 Izhevsk...and I'm more than a little happy with it.. So now I need another one.

Congrats, noise. The laminated models are really purty in their own way.
As for ammo, you can find Brown Bear pretty much anywhere, but try Aim Surplus or J&G Sales for bulk surplus 54R. I've found that the brass-cased Bulgarian shoots nicely and extracts perfectly (no sticky-bolt), but there's no telling what your War Club will like, so experiment.

Yes, you do! Congratulations on picking up your first. They are fun guns to shoot.

Thanks for passing the bug... I want one! Just what I needed, another gun to research the hell out of.
Where would you suggest looking to finding one cheap?

I would second the Bulgarian surplus; I'm not sure which specific, but mine came in a 300 rd. metal box. It's interesting just prying open the old case. And it's cheap. I would recommend stocking up on the stuff now; I have heard it's drying up, but then again I'm no expert. I just see this stuff going the way of 7.62x39.. in a year or so it might double it's cost. Same goes with the Mosins, compared to the SKS's. Just my uneducated speculation, though.

J&G Sales and Aim Surplus both sell Mosins dirt cheap. Get your C&R License and you can have them delivered to your door without extra step of having to do a FFL transfer.

Now you need an SKS to go with it. I've got an SKS and a Mosin side by side in the rifle rack. Not only do they look good together they hare historical.
