Which Upper?

I am trying to decide on which STAG upper kit to buy to mate to my Stag Lower. I have narrowed it down to two options from Pete at Legal Transfers:

1. Stag 2H Upper Kit - http://ar15sa.fatcow.com/store/page2.html

Basically a Flat Top Upper with the Standard Carbine forend.

Total = $633

2. Stag 2HT Upper Kit - 2HT Upper $659 Shipped - LPK- $63 Stock - $69 Mag - 20 Total = $811.00

The only difference I see is the railed forend. I figure if that is the only difference, Option 1 is my best bet. I can always put a Free Float YHM Rail on for around $100 later on if I want to.

What do you guys think?

I'd say you hit the nail right on the head...

Get the 2H kit, IMO

How hard is it to install a free float rail? Do you need special tools and stuff?

That depends on the free float rail

Look at this:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=226782

and scroll about 1/3rd of the way down... they have instructions on installing YHM, LaRue, and Troy/Samson free-float tubes.

Only really specific tools you'd need are an action block (to hold onto the upper while you work on it) and a barrel nut wrench.
