GunVault mini experiences?

I'm thinking of getting one of those GunVault Mini Deluxe vaults for my XD-40 service to keep in the dresser by my bed. I have three kids so safety is important. My main safe is in the closet and not quickly accessible. I like the combo lock built into the GunVault made to fit adult fingers and the light inside the vault when you open it plus the optional cable for it as well as other features such as tamper detection and lockout.

Anyone have one of these that can offer pros and cons? Good deal for quick safe access?

I have the Deluxe Multi GunVault. In-general, I like. My only complaint is that the audible button feature really needs to be on. I turned it off only to find that I wasn't always pushing the buttons hard enough. It needs to be on so you get some sort of feedback from the box that the given button was indeed pressed. If you mess-up too many times, then you've just locked yourself out and and will need the key to get it open.

I have a two drawer night stand. I sacrificed the bottom drawer and converted it into a shelf that the safe can sit on. I used the drawer face plate as a cover so it appears as a standard drawer. Also, I have the cable option. If a would-be thief has some cable cutting devices, then it's obviously worthless. But I did run the cable through a couple of near by furniture pieced so that it would be a major pain in the arse to run out the door with it (again, if no cutting was involved).

I have a deluxe double decker model underneath the night stand. Quick access is the biggest plus. As soon as the combination code is entered, the door pops right open with the interior lite.

Make sure you don't loose the key though; when the battery power dies you will need the key to open it in order to replace the batteries.

I would recommend it.

I have the GunVault Multi Deluxe next to my bed. Inside is my XD45 Service ready to go. I highly recommend this vault to anyone who needs quick access to their pistol while keeping it safely secured.

I don't have one, but I play with them just about every time I walk into SPortsmans Wharehouse. They seem pretty well built, and quite "spiffy."

I think I'll probably pick one up in the next week or tow, and attach it permanantly to the top of my safe. They're probably one of the best things out there for safely securing a handgun, while still allowing quick access.

Having said that, DO IT

I have one - bought it 3-4 months ago - I like it a lot. No problems.

Bought one about 10 years ago and still use it with no issues. Love it. They sell at Sportsmans warehouse for around $89.

So when the wife asks for the combination, do you tell her "index, middle, ring, index"

I figure the wire would be good for kid-deterent, they would definately leave a mark if they tried to make off with it to see what was in it. It would also slow a BG down a little.
