G26 high and left

I’ve always had a problem with shooting my G26 high and left. The chart I’m looking at says this means pushing or no follow-through. I am right-handed.

Additional facts:
  • I shoot the 26 better (tighter group and less high and left) with the standard G26 mag than I do with the mag extension.
  • I shoot my Ruger P95 with the groups centered consistently
  • I’ve only had my XD45 Tactical for a week but I group it on target as well.

Would y’all agree that pushing is my problem? Why do I do this with the 26, but not the other guns?

Thanks

Sounds like it could be a pushing problem to me, from the bottom of the grip no less because you have less of a problem with the mag extension.

Correct me if Im wrong but the p95 is a heavier gun right? Its possible that you are very gently pushing on the bottom of your gun. The problem might persist with the p95 but be less visible because the natural weight of the gun counterbalances your push.

Or, you might be less prone to push on on the p95 because the recoil may be lighter.

Since you shoot well with other guns, the sights on your G26 may be off. do other people shoot high and left with it, or are they dead on target?

Try this next time you go to the range.

Take your P95, your XD, and your G26. Have a friend load a magazine for each and sneak a snap cap in a different spot in each magazine, preferably not the first or second round as you want the first and second round recoil to be there. The expectation of recoil may be whats causing you to flinch and push.

Then have your friend stand on the side of you and observe you as you fire each gun. Tell him to try to qualitatively measure the amount you lift the barrel for each gun when you fire the snap cap.

Yes, the P95 is fairly heavy compared to the G26. And, yes, the 26 has more recoil than the P95.

I've actually never had anyone else shoot my 26. I'll get a friend to shoot with me and I'll get some snap caps and try that also.

For those of us who are used to other, more naturally pointing guns, the Glock points high. I use one for my every day carry, but I am not a big fan of the grip angle. I would attribute the shooting high to the grip angle. I feel as if I have to dip my hands down to get the Glock on target. It's not a big deal once you get used to it, but it is definitely noticeable if you usually shoot other brands. Shooting to the left sounds like too much finger on the trigger. Try to engage the trigger with the pad of your finger. I too shoot the pistol better with the smaller mag than I do when using a G19 mag or finger extensions on the mags. That seems to be the story for a lot of people. pretty damn mysterious if you ask me!

Get rid of the Glock? That's laughable. The baby Glocks have been at the top of the sub-compact class for many years now, and for a good reason. Unlike other sub-compacts out there these days, the baby Glocks can be used for pocket carry. Yes, there are other pistols out there that can be pocket carried, but most have iffy reliability, or have a significantly decreased firepower ratio when compared to the Glock. I am not particularly passionate about anything Glock makes, but until someone comes out with a sub-compact that is smaller, more versatile and more reliable than the baby Glocks, there will be a G26 in my pocket. I've been waiting...

I thought shooting to the left would be too little finger on the trigger according to the charts. OTOH, I know I've always shot with the trigger almost in if not right in the joint. So maybe I should work on that some.

One other thing: are Glocks set for 6 o'clock like the XDs?

As far as getting rid of the Glock, I'm reluctant to do that only to find its the guy standing behind the gun and not the gun causing the problem.

OK, back to the range today. Not much improvement.

I worked on keeping only the pad of my finger on the trigger. That worked well with the XD, the Glock. It also worked well with the Ruger and the 44 in SA mode. But either of those in DA mode and I keept letting my figer creep back to the joint.

As for how the G26 shot (or how I shot the 26) its still high and left. I started using 6 o'clock like with the XD (different from the Ruger). That brought it down some, but still not level at 15 yds. At 7yds, its pretty much even with the bull, but at 15 its high. Its still left no matter what I do.

My friend who was going with me called and cancelled just before I got to the range, so no help there.

I tried cheatin the blade over behind the right side of the rear sight. No good. I'd have to drift the rear sight past the edge of the slide to force the POI to the bull. There's something wrong with me or the gun.

On the bright side, I'm shooting the XD better than I've ever shot before. I may have to get me a Tactical in 9mm (after a year or two when I can afford it).
