SKS question
I've finally found a magazine for my SKS that works as advertised: feeds flawlessly for 20 rds. and locks the slide open when done.
For those of you who would be interested in such a thing, it's available at TAPCO (www.tapco.com) and is item number MAG6620B. There's a video available on TAPCO's website showing how this magazine works and mine worked just like the video said it would. I couldn't be happier. Now for the question: if anyone has used the same magazine, how does it perform after long periods of being loaded? I'm a little curious if the zytel stretches or permanently deforms after being loaded for a while and if this will change the performance of the magazine. I'll answer the question to some extent next time I go shooting (my mags are loaded and I'll update you all as to whether or not they work the same the next time I'm at the range). I just thought I'd ask in case anyone else has used these mags. They're really great and I hope they stay that way. Cheers to TAPCO. joe

yup they make damn good mags. The only problem I have with them is hollow points wont' feed worth a damn in mine. The FMJs and Soft Points get eaten with no regard though.

I have a Pro Mag 30rnd that works great in my Yugo. No failures of any kind yet.
EDIT: IN CASE SOMEONE SEARCHES AND FINDS THIS. Soon after I posted this I bought another Pro Mag magazine from a gun show. It will only load 4-5 rounds then it locks up. The other one I have didn't last too long either. These things are complete junk and shouldn't be bought by anyone. Last edited by GimmieBoost; 07-09-2007 at 10:28 PM. |

Any problems with long-term loaded storage, though? joe

I don't keep it stored long term with rounds in it. Infact I've got the 10rnder fixed mag in there.

I'm very curios about this too since I've been tempted to get a few.

just a quick warning that you've made your gun illegal. It is no longer a C&R gun. You need to get the required amount of US parts and it will be legal but not as a C&R. It's not to hard to do.

I hear you brother. When I order my mags I'm going to get the USA made parts from Tapco as well. T-6 stock, piston, operating rod and mags. Gotta have at least six parts stamped "Made in the USA" to be legal. I called Tapco and confirmed this already.

I like the stripper clip on the SKS. It is what makes is a SKS and not a AK, IMHO.
