Which would make the best weapon mounted light?
Which is the better weapon mounted light?
1.Insight Technology SSL-1 2.Streamlight M-3X Tactical Illuminator 3.Streamlight TLR–1 Whichever one I get will be mounted on my XD .45. I would like it to be effective at 25-30 meters. If anyone has any experience with any of the three I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter.

I have a TLR-2 mounted on my 45 service compact. Works and shoots well. I do notice some angular error in the laser depending on how far away the target is. This is because the laser is well below the muzzle.
So you have to dial it in for the distance you think you'll be shooting (5-10yds?) and realize it will be "slightly" off at other distances. |

I use the TRL-1 on my XD45C and love it. My roomate has the SureFire X200A and considering the SF is about $100 more (the TRL can be had for under $100) I honestly do not see a difference in the light projected from the two.
I've heard less than stellar reviews of the M3/6 series, issues with the back plate not holding firm and popping off during heavy use of the weapon.. e.g. training classes and field use. No personal experience there, but considering the price difference and knowing some of the sources personally, I went with the TRL. I've even seen some folks mount them to their AR's coupling the TRL with the newer pressure tape. Hope that helps..
