Ok, I'm selling my Ruger .45 which will leave me a .45 vacancy in my stables. I've got a used Kimber CDP II on hold at my local shop until the end of the month (bonus time). My choices are a 1911 type pistol (the CDP) or an XD45C. I have a XD9SC, but no 1911s. I've heard of some people having problems with the 3" Kimbers and 1911's in general. Anyone here experienced any issues with them? The only XD45C that they had was without night sights and was cheaper than the CDP. He said he could order one, but didn't know when it might come in. Is is worth it to buy it now and add the sights later? He said it would add around $100 for the factory night sights.
Primarily HD pistol, some carry if I feel like it. I'm not practiced with a 1911 cocked & locked either so that will keep me from carrying for a while. Feel free to throw out any opinions or experiences.

I'd suggest the TruGlo TFOs for night sights. They're fiber optic and glow bright during the day and with the tritium, they glow at night too. I have them on my XD45c and I love them.
Since you're talking about 3" 1911s, I suppose you're looking at the Kimber CDP II Ultra? I shot a 4" CDP II and it was very nice, no problems, other than with some of the reloads the guy was shooting. Factory ammo was fine. I was talking to a guy at an indoor range about a month ago and he was carrying Golden Sabres in his 3" 1911. |

A nice lightly used W. German SIG P220 will run you about 475-550 bucks. Is this within your budget?
If so, you really ought to check out the SIG P220 pistol. Its the most reliable 45ACP I have ever owned. Accurate, too. - Brickboy240

I have a buddy who let me shoot his P220. The grip feels a little large for my taste. I've got a wide palm and stubby fingers. He had put hogue grips on it, so that may have made it feel a little more bulky to me.

I have a Colt Officer's ACP and an SA Ultra Compact SS. Never had any issue with them.

I was mistaken (misinformed via phone), the Kimber is actually an Ultra CDP not CDP II. Supposed to be a very reliable pistol. I'd been researching other sites and getting really worried about it.
