California approved pocket pistol
So I spent the past few days researching pocket pistols and I had pretty much decided I was going to go with the kel tec p3at or p32...but then I found out kel tecs are banned in CA!! ARGH! Any Californians out there that carry a pocket pistol? What have you found to be a good gun that is legal? Thanks!

I carry my S&W M-36 in my pocket, depending on what I am wearing. Other than that, start hitting the gunshows looking for something used. If its already here, it can be transferred (unlike "assault weapons") but there are very few new pocket-type pistols being sold here because of the CA drop test requirement.

I think CA only banned new sales, this was due to the strict licensing required of the manufacturers (extensive drop test, etc). Kel Tec decided to thumb their noses at CA and not get registered as they enough business elsewhere.
Go to KTOG forum and look for similar posts. Supposedly you CAN carry the Kel Tec in CA, you just have to find a private sale for a used one. |

CA approved pocket pistol???They dont even give ccw permit there in CA,unless you are really rich and a celebrity then they might. I will not even think about carrying there, if you get stop by a leo you might get in some serious legal trouble..You can't even have it in your car with the mag and pistol in the same place, pistol in the trunk of the car and mag in the car..

vikz, you are correct; L.A. County doesn't issue very many ccws. If you were to go to http://www.packing.org/state/califor...stateimage=118, you will notice that the yellow counties are difficult to obtain ccws from; L.A. is one of them.
Now, if you were to contribute lots of money to Baca's political war chest, I'm sure you could obtain one. That site shows that as of 2005, they only had issued 1358 permits for a county that had over 9.5 million people. There are now over 10 million and I doubt if the permits have gone up much. They deputies at the station would be hysterical if you asked about one. Last edited by retired; 06-10-2007 at 11:25 PM. |

I live in San Bernardino county which is one of the easiest and I am an ER physician so I think I can make a good case. I don't think I will have any problems getting a CCW.
