Rifle Advice?

I've gotten the go-ahead from the wife to start shopping for a rifle (right after I get her a Beretta Cx4 Storm), and am feeling overwhelmed by the options. The Magpul Masada looks great, and I don't mind waiting for it to come out, but I don't want to be the guy who buys it on day one and has to find all the bugs himself. An M4 would be nice because I'm already familiar with the family, but all the ones that are set up the way I like them are close to 2 grand. For 2 grand, I'm sorely tempted by the FS2000.

Help?

Kinda confusing question

How much are you allowed to spend and what kind of shooting do you want to do?

You've got some expensive taste in rifles

I suspect I'm allowed to spend as much as I can reasonably justify...2000 is really the top end of that range. I was assuming between 1000 and 1500, though.

My needs now are largely limited to target, and I hope to try some 3-gun comps when I get home. I suppose I kind of wanted a SHTF rifle, too, although it's a little embarrassing to say that...I don't think I need one.

I got a chance to fire my friend's Rock River Entry Tactical rifle last year. I was impressed with the overall quality and the trigger pull was one of the best I have ever experienced. Only drawback was that it was kind of heavy (I have a early Colt CAR and it's seems to be half the weight).

$1,500 to $2,000 gives you a VERY comfortable bankroll to play with

Oh yeah, that Masada doesn't look it it will have any "bugs" to deal with. Looks like a Super Premium rifle

Thanks for the input. I don't mind heavy too much...this one will be personal (not issue), so I don't anticipate carrying it around all day. I've heard great things about the RR rifles from a guy here whose dad is DEA (the praise never stops coming from this guy). If I got an M4/M16 type, I was looking hard at them. I kind of like the gas piston notion as opposed to a gas tube...mostly for cleaning purposes, since there is that weight tradeoff.
