Like I said in a previous post. Britian forgets that we have a thing called the 2nd Ammendment... AND that it was put in place BECAUSE OF THEM!! BTW- we put it in place AFTER we kicked the crap out of them.... The day that the 2nd Ammendment changes, is the day that America revolts. period.

SOmething folks from the UK like to keep quiet is that all violnet crime is higher there per capita than here. Rapes, home invasion, etc. Not only because guns are severely restricted, but you have no right to self defense there. If you kill a guy w/ your baseball bat that is trying to kill you w/ his knife, you go to jail for the BG death! Yes, the USA is THE greatest country on earth.

The British have become such a pansy society. Hard to believe these are the people that fought off the Germans in WWII.

One thing I have always found strange about the Brits is their bizarre views on self defense and owning firearms. They have this attitude that "I'm too civilized to carry/use a gun or knife" or that wanting to carry or own a gun or knife to defend oneself from wrongdoers is "barbaric."

Remember the British country farmer that shot a two-time burglar that was armed with a knife and inside his home and went to jail for doing so? Thats the mentality of these people. Completely bizarre.

Some people think that because Britain has such strict gun laws, their violent crime rate is low. This is only PARTLY true. Yes, there are fewer GUN deaths, but they have NO shortage of stabbings, beatings, rapes, assaults and other unpleasantries. London is very much a hotbed of crime and getting worse. Criminals there are emboldended by the fact that nobody is armed and they are too chicken to fight back. Its a crooks' dream if you ask me.

When I visited the UK years ago, I remember their nightly news casts were very much like ours: starting off with a string of robberies, rapes, assaults or other crimes that hapened that day. The idea that England is safe, because of strict gun laws is abou as off base as the thought that Sweden's healthcare system is a good model for the USA. These notions are usually spouted by those that have NO expereince with either.

Most British people I have met (including Aussies and Canadians...and I know alot of them) still think nobody should own guns, carry guns or defend themselves. When I ask them, "well...the crooks all have guns and don't pay attention to laws" they just give me a blank stare or write me off as some sort of yank heathen.

My brother-in-law was raised in Melbourne, Australia and has these bizarre views as well. He has no solutions to the crooks being the only ones with weapons...he just thinks US having the same weapons is somehow wrong.

Whatever! I just don't get these people!
